Brian has worked at Engvall & Hlavinka since 2004 and was named a partner in 2010. He has ten years of experience most of which has been in the areas of construction, employment, and insurance defense law. Brian also represents small businesses and handles a variety of their work including litigation and contract issues.
Brian is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the Southern District of Texas and is a 2000 graduate of Baylor Law School. He is a 1997 graduate of Southwestern University where he is a member of the Southwestern Hall of Honor after being named to the NCAA Division III All American Baseball Team.
Trial Experience
Brian enjoys resolving client disputes and is experienced at all parts of litigation, including trying cases to jury verdict. He has tried 12 cases to jury verdict and has tried cases all across Texas including Harris, Galveston, Nueces, Williamson, Hays and El Paso Counties. Brian has also prosecuted and defended multiple Temporary Restraining Orders and suits for Injunctive Relief. He also has experience working on a traditional motion practice in Texas Courts and has also worked on appellate issues including briefing to the Texas Supreme Court.

- Successfully obtained a jury verdict for the Texas Department of Transportation in a personal injury case on the Bolivar Ferry.
- Successfully obtained a jury verdict for a Fortune 500 chemical company and the owner of a commercial real estate building in a negligent design and premises defect dispute.
- Successfully obtained a jury verdict on behalf of a small business owner in a personal injury cause of action, after stipulating that the business owner was liable for the incident.
- Successfully obtained multiple defense jury verdicts in defending multiple healthcare providers in professional malpractice lawsuits.
- Successfully represented employers in covenant not to compete lawsuits including handling of multiple temporary restraining orders.
- Representing contractors in breach of contract and breach of warranty lawsuits.
- Defending contractors in construction related lawsuits involving the construction of multi-family, healthcare and school projects.
