J. Jonathan Hlavinka
Martindale-Hubbell rating: AV
Jon was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on August 24, 1963, but he got to Texas as soon as he could. When he was two days old, his parents toted him across the Texas-Arkansas state line to their home in Texarkana, Texas.
Jon spent his youth concentrating on baseball and math. His pee wee baseball team (the Wildcats) won the 1971 Texarkana city championship. In ninth grade, he was the Number Sense champion at the City Junior High Literary Meet.
After graduation from Texas High School, Jon matriculated at the University of Texas at Austin (where he received a degree in Plan II in 1985), the University of Chicago Graduate School of Economics, and the University of Texas School of Law (from which he received his J.D. in 1989).
Over the years, his practice has varied substantially and has included commercial litigation, medical malpractice, insurance defense, collections, insurance coverage, corporate work, FSLIC and FDIC liquidation work, and a brief time spent as a plaintiff's lawyer.
One circle of Jon's life was recently completed when his son's pee wee baseball team (the Shorthorns) won the 2007 pee wee championship in the West University Little League.
